So, chances are you belong to the category of outdoor enthusiasts who want to immerse themselves in everything the beautiful Croatian nature has to offer. If you're up for an adventure, you can't miss out on the stunning lakes and waterfalls. What do we recommend? Pack your hiking boots and explore these unforgettable places!

Plitvice Lakes: Nature at Its Best

Plitvice is renowned for its sixteen turquoise lakes and over ninety enchanting waterfalls. The area is home to abundant wildlife, including deer, wild boars, wolves, bears, badgers, and lynxes, along with more than 140 bird species. It's no wonder this national park has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1979. If you're a hiking enthusiast, this is the perfect place to let your hiking boots roam free. From both park entrances, you can embark on breathtaking hiking trails. You can opt for a relatively short 2-hour walk, or spend a full day exploring longer trails, interspersed with a train ride or boat trip.

Every season is unique in this park, and you can visit Plitvice throughout the year. In summer, the park attracts over 10,000 visitors on average, and some areas may get crowded. If that's not your thing, make sure to buy your ticket a day in advance and start your walk early in the morning. This is a wise choice, especially considering the summer temperatures in Croatia.

Krka Waterfalls: Explore Krka National Park

If you want to enjoy the natural beauty Croatia has to offer, Krka is an excellent choice. Wooden walkways lead you past seven stunning, refreshing waterfalls. It's the perfect spot for a panoramic photo to make your friends back home jealous, a delightful picnic, and breathtaking views.

You can reach the park by car or bus, but for a truly adventurous trip, take a boat to Krka. From the Šibienik harbor, you'll sail towards the waterfalls in about an hour and a half. This way, you'll also enjoy the beautiful Saint Joseph Channel and get a glimpse of the Pruklian Lake.
